Covid-19 in Lisbon

Guidelines to be followed at Christmas and New Year

58 counties were lowered from the risk level due to the number of Covid-19 cases.

As we can see on the website of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) despite the fact that 58 councils are lowered in rank, it does not change the current State of Emergency, which ends at 23:59 on December 23, knowing that it will be renewed until January 7th.

Understand how the government classifies municipalities into four risk levels:

  • moderate (less than 240 cases per 100,000 population in the last 14 days);

  • high (between 240 and 480 cases); very high (from 480 to 960 cases) ;

  • extreme (960 or more cases).

Currently in Lisbon, the number of cases per 100,000 residents has slightly decreased, from 556 to 530. Since the beginning of the pandemic, Portugal has registered 5,733 deaths and 353,576 cases of infection by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, standing today (15/12) /2020) assets 71,012.

Importantly, it is not yet possible to confirm that people infected with SARS-CoV-2 develop protective immunity. As reported in the DGS and other official information media, the human organism can gain antibodies after infection and disease development.

Therefore, if you are in the risk group of serious illness due to COVID-19, stay at home and avoid close contact with other people, as much as possible. You should not receive visitors at home, choose to speak by phone or internet.

If you need to go to a health service, call ahead and plan your visit, or in case of urgency, contact 112.

Keep an eye out for any signs or symptoms of respiratory infection. If you get sick, stay home and call SNS24 (808 24 24 24).
