Covid-19 in Portugal

With the increase in the number of patients with the virus in PT, the government applied the first contingency plan, closing schools and colleges in large urban centres. Click here, to access the plan.

The National Plan for Preparation and Response for Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID 19) is a strategic tool for preparing and responding to a potential SARS CoV 2 virus epidemic. This Plan has as reference the guidelines of the World Health Organisation and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, being the national reference document regarding the planning of the COVID 19 response. In Europe it is the opposite of Brazil, it is the Directorate-General for Health itself (www.dgs.pt) that makes public communication and indicates the measures that should be taken and what they will do and explain in all contingency plans.

THE LATEST NEWS

The Government's order came out in the Diário da República that prepares the closure of all Schools already from today (11.03) and that allows the father or mother to discharge and receive 100% of the salary to quarantine with their children.

CORONAVIRUS - QUARANTINE

Quarantined casualties:

A special social protection organisation has been created for those who have to be quarantined by themselves or children/grandchildren. These casualties only apply to workers who cannot perform their function by telework (this should be the priority). For both public and private employees the quarantine sick leave will be paid at 100%, from day one and only in the first 14 days, the rest apply to current legislation. If the disease is confirmed, the decrease will be a decrease due to natural disease applying the current rules in force (55%, in the first 30 days, and the first 3 days are not remunerated). If schools/children close because they are quarantined, one of the parents is allowed to discharge for child assistance. Assistance to children and/or grandchildren is governed by the law in force, that is, there is no change maintaining the payment of 65%. It remains to be clarified whether or not the days of quarantine in child/grandson care count towards the annual days (30 or 15) to which you are entitled. (As soon as we have concrete information we will update the publication.) For these casualties, warranty periods do not apply, that is, it is not necessary to have 6 months of discounts to be remunerated. The discharge is passed by the health service by filling out its own form created for this situation.

ATTENTION!!! If you have to be quarantined, follow her to the letter, don't go for a walk. Protect yourselves properly. Wash your hands well and often. Avoid crowds of people. Follow the health instructions. Don't panic, but take proper preventive care.
