We also do not run away from this rule, because we intend to have quality of life, this includes riding a bicycle, train, subway, among other options. We will then talk about the Lisbon Metro and how to purchase the Metro lines access card.
Lisbon has a very agile and practical transport system. There are only 4 lines – all known by a color and represented by an element of the city's history. Furthermore, the lines intersect at strategic points, which makes travel faster. The metro is open from 6:30 am to 1 am every day, including weekends and holidays.
To ride the subway for the first time, you need to buy a travel card that can be Viva Viagem – Lisboa Viva – or 7 Colinas. Both cost €0.50 and can be reused during your entire stay in the city (valid for 1 year). Like everywhere, you can recharge it (with as many trips as you like) and use it until you run out of credits. Credits are purchased from electronic machines at the stops or entrances of each line. They accept cards, notes and coins.
It's simple to use: at each refill, the machine will ask you if you have a card or not. If so, press the “I have card” button. The machine then asks you to insert the card so that you can choose the type of recharge afterwards. If you don't have a card, just choose “buy card” and recharge.
But beware: the card is personal (each person needs to have his/her own) and when leaving the subway station, you must swipe it through the reader to open the turnstile!

ADVANTAGE
For those who frequently use the subway, there is the possibility of purchasing rechargeable Lisboa viva cards.
Those with children up to 3 years of age are exempt from paying a transport ticket, provided they are accompanied by an adult. Children from 4 to 12 years of age are entitled to free transport on the Metro, as long as they are holders of the Lisboa VIVA card with a Child profile.
The transport of bicycles on the metro trains is allowed, a maximum of two per carriage, if there are no large crowds of passengers.
You can transport pets in the Metro as long as they are properly stowed, so as not to disturb, disturb or frighten other customers.
