Qatari rules
Those who visit Qatar, as a rule, must obey certain rules and customs, and the same will be expected during the championship. Find out which ones:
#01 When entering someone's house, it is forbidden to greet women with a handshake or hugs, being the alternative to greet them with the right hand on the heart;
#02 To drink Arabic tea, only the right hand should be used;
#03 In public, it is considered rude to look people in the eye and demonstrations of affection are seen as something unpleasant and inappropriate;
#04 Respecting the specific areas for women and men is extremely important;
#05 It is not allowed to transport alcoholic beverages, such as pork products, nor to enjoy them on the street, at the risk of being arrested. With the exception of residents, the only places where you can buy alcohol will be in establishments with a license to do so (hotels, bars and restaurants). A bottle of beer in a licensed hotel will cost about 15 euros, and a mug with about half a litre will be around 17 euros. However, this type of drinks will also be marketed in designated areas of the venues that will host the games, a few hours before and one hour after the match, but never during it. In Doha, the country's capital, there will also be a fan zone with alcohol for sale;
#06 Football fans who want to watch the games will have to present a negative Covid-19 test on arrival in the country, and will be required to download a mobile application, controlled by the government, so that their location is tracked in case of illness.
