Promotes the Future of the Interior

The Promote Program aims to support innovative initiatives in strategic areas for the development of inland regions with border dynamics and that are replicable to other regions with similar characteristics.



The 2022 edition supports three types of initiatives:


A. Innovative pilot projects; B. Ideas with the potential to become innovative pilot projects; C. Mobilizing R&D projects.


This Program is open to entities wishing to develop supported projects located in the following geographical areas:

  • North: municipalities of NUTS III Alto Tâmega, Terras de Trás-os-Montes and Douro.

  • Center: municipalities of NUTS III Beiras and Serra da Estrela, and Beira Baixa.

  • South: municipalities of NUTS III Alto Alentejo, Alentejo Central and Baixo Alentejo, as well as municipalities of Alcoutim, Aljezur, Castro Marim, Monchique and Vila do Bispo, as well as the parishes of São Marques da Serra in the municipality of Silves, Alte, Ameixial, Salir and Querença / Benfim / Tôr

Candidacy

The following may submit to the competition:

  • In the competition for innovative pilot projects: companies, in any legal form and size, entities of the National Scientific and Technological System or other private non-profit entities, individually or on a consortium basis. In the case of consortia, applications may include central and local government entities and the public business sector, as well as informal groups that act for the common good, but are not formally registered.

  • In the contest of ideas with the potential to become innovative pilot projects: higher education students who, at the time of submission of the application, are enrolled in the undergraduate, master's or doctoral cycles at universities and polytechnic institutes located in the geographical areas eligible for the competition. Each application must have a teacher or researcher as mentor and each team must consist of 2 to 5 elements.

  • In the contest of mobilizing R&D projects: applications must be led by R&D units that have been classified as Very Good or Excellent in the most recent evaluation by the FCT, and may have as partners any non-business entities, in any legal form and dimension, of the National Scientific and Technological System, namely higher education institutions, their institutes and R&D units, State or international Laboratories based in Portugal, private non-profit institutions that have as their main object R&D activities, and also other public and private non-profit institutions that develop or Participate in scientific research activities. In the case of consortia, applications may also include central and local government and public business sector entities and Companies of any nature and in any legal form.

Initiatives will be supported in the geographical areas identified below, fully classified as belonging to the interior under Ordinance No. 208/2017 of July 13, provided that they fall into one or more of the thematic areas considered.



APPLICATION PROCESS.


Present your project and additional documentation between November 24, 2021 and January 19, 2022 accessing the private area to submit applications to the programs of the "la Caixa" Foundation.



The first time you enter this area, you will have to register to obtain a username and password, choosing whether to register an entity (for pilot project contests or mobilizing R&D projects) or a natural person (the team leader for the ideas contest).


When you are registered, look for the Consult open competitions section, select the contest of interest to you from the Promote 2022 program and fill out the online application form.


Incomplete applications, delivered on paper or submitted by any other means or after the deadline will not be accepted.
