Malveira, the site of Portugal's Big Brother village

How about getting to know the Malveira area where the home of Big Brother of Portugal is located?! Malveira is a village and was once a Portuguese parish in the municipality of Mafra, with 9.78 km2 of area and 6,493 inhabitants.

The parish was extinguished by the administrative reorganisation of 2012/2013, and its territory was integrated into the Union of Parishes of Malveira and São Miguel de Alcainça.

It has a vast cultural and historical heritage, and one of the most famous fairs in the country, whose beginning dates back to the end of the 18th century and the annual fair of that locality, the first "free of rights", by charter of D. Maria I.

In sweets, the most famous delicacy is Muggle, a recipe that has more than a century of existence, and which consists of a small pie stuffed with a delicious cream. So be sure to visit the Malveira Muggle Factory, located at Rua Miguel Judicibus Ferreira, 40 in Malveira.

In 2019 this village was, for the first time, the scene of a fiction book, Merinda, by writer Miguel Mósca.
