Today, October 5, the day of the Implementation of the Republic, Parliament will be open between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., awaiting your visit. Those who visit Parliament will be able to see the original of the 1911 Constitution of the First Republic, as well as the proposals that in this period of national history were presented for the bust of the Republic.
"It is the first time this has happened, but it will not be the last, because these moments of opening the parliament building are very important to those who want to visit this that is their home". Augusto Santos Silva
President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa upon arriving at Praça do Município was received by the Mayor of Lisbon (CML) and by a Republican National Guard of Honour Guard (GNR).
To the sound of "A Portuguesa", Marcelo hoisted the national flag.
They then went to the balcony of the Paços do Concelho, where the Head of State hoisted the National Flag while the GNR Band performed the Anthem. A restricted ceremony followed in the Noble Hall where, after the intervention of the President of the CML, the President of the Republic spoke.
