Will Parque das Nações be our choice of parish?!

Well… obviously my family and I have already been to Lisbon, hence our passion for this lovely country. We also visited the Parque das Nações, to visit the Oceanarium. I'm still discovering how Parque das Nações came about, so I'll quote Lisbonlux's words, and soon after I'll try to describe with my words what I saw with my eyes.

The eastern part of Lisbon was a very unattractive industrial area when it was chosen as the stage for Expo 98. Since then it has been reborn as a futuristic neighborhood in glass and concrete, where some remarkable examples of modern architecture can be found. One of them is the Oriente Station, a monument with the signature of Santiago Calatrava, while Álvaro Siza Vieira was responsible for the Portugal Pavilion, with its extraordinary visor. Many of the buildings in the neighborhood are inspired by the oceans (the twin towers São Gabriel and São Rafael resemble boats and are named after Vasco da Gama's caravels), and here is also one of the most spectacular aquariums in the world. Everywhere there are views of the Tagus, which looks like a sea crossed by the longest bridge in Europe. You can also see small volcanoes of water erupting, undulating banks, exotic gardens, public art by Portuguese and international artists, cable cars passing over everything, and an avant-garde side contrasting with the historic center of the city.

On our tour there… it was just “love”!!! In all senses. We were delighted with everything we saw, we felt at ease in this region. In fact, we feel that way throughout Portugal.

What we observed is that everything is very close there, we don't need to go far to solve the little things of everyday life. But it is noteworthy that we only spent the tourist spots and did not know the night.

The cable car ride was enchanting, the view so spectacular. We did this tour in the late afternoon, imagine the position of the sun as it was!!!! Unfortunately we didn't go on the train ride!! At the time, we were excited to enter the Oceanário… and enjoy it to the full! As we took the subway, we got off at the station that is close to Vasco da Gama… we took the opportunity and also got to know this mall… oh my god!!! You know that trip we are going to walk, walk and dream about, and nothing else!!! So it is!!! It was that trip!!! But each tour was each mall and stores and promotions… really! Different from these promotions that exist in Brazil. I behaved! I don't think my purchases totaled more than €400 on the entire trip.

One more Google search… and… According to Wikipedia:

The creation of the parish of Parque das Nações resulted in an increase in the area of the municipality of Lisbon by around 1.87 km². The parish contains 197 streets. Currently considered as one of the safest neighborhoods in the city of Lisbon.
