Jerónimos Monastery

Masterpiece of 16th-century Portuguese architecture, it is classified as a National Monument and inscribed on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Site (1983).

The Jerónimos Monastery is located in one of the most qualified areas of Lisbon, a historical and monumental setting next to the Tagus River, where the ships and caravels departed at the time of the Discoveries that would give "new worlds to the world". On the imposing facade of the Monastery, which extends for about three hundred metres, stands the South Portal of the Church, quite decorated, in which we can mention as a highlight the images of the Patron Saint of Portugal, Archangel S. Miguel (at the top) and the image of Santa Maria de Belém, or Nossa Senhora dos Reis (centre).

Very close to the Monastery we will find other tourist attractions such as the Discovery Pattern, the Belém Tower, the famous pastry shop that offers the famous and original Pastel de Belém, among others.
